Where to stay near Myall Lakes National Park

Prioritise official NSW National Parks camping when camping fits your trip — mornings become lake edges and tracks, not long drives. When you want commercial hotels or holiday homes, base near the gate you will use: Hawks Nest / Tea Gardens for Mungo Brush, Seal Rocks for Sugarloaf Point, Bulahdelah for The Grandis and ferry approaches. Official park camping: NSW National Parks — camping & accommodation · official park page.

Some stay, tour and gear links may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Park entry fees, the Bombah Point ferry, fishing licences and official NPWS camping bookings are never affiliated.

Official camping (Mungo Brush & more) + lighthouse cottages

Book only via NSW National Parks for official campgrounds (or 1300 072 757). Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse keepers’ cottages are official heritage accommodation only. Availability, fees, vehicle rules and fire bans change — always verify on official pages. Park entry fees are usually additional. NRMA Myall Shores is a commercial holiday park — book on their channels; park entry still applies separately. This site does not affiliate park camping, ferry or NPWS booking systems.

Choose a base by intent

Not three random search links. Match the gate you will actually use. Official NPWS camping (Mungo Brush and others) is the only in-park overnight that maximises morning lake time — book on NPWS only. No invented nightly rates.

  • Families / first Mungo day: Hawks Nest or Tea Gardens — shortest drive to rainforest loop and Bombah Broadwater. Fuel and food before Mungo Brush Road.
  • Early ferry / Grandis: Bulahdelah — highway services, cash for Bombah Point ferry, picnic stop without inventing Seal Rocks the same afternoon.
  • Ocean / lighthouse: Seal Rocks village (or Forster if beds are full) — Sugarloaf Point as its own chapter. Lighthouse cottages = official NPWS heritage bookings only.
  • Camping full: gateway commercial bed + early day-trip beats illegal overnight parking. See how long you need.
